This is a report prepared for the Protecting America's Battlefields program for Chester County and the Philadelphia Campaign. It includes Yellow Springs and Schuylkill/Charlestown Townships. The Battle of the Clouds took place in Frazer, Chester County, where a skirmish between the British and the Continental Army was mounting. A deluge of rain prevented a true battle. General George Washington's troops retreated to Yellow Springs arriving on September 17, 1777. General Washington set up temporary headquarters here while he planned his march west to the furnace area for replenishment of ammunition. |
