This folder contains information on Rev. Henry Melchior Muhlenberg from journals and articles. Muhlenberg (1711-1787) is the pioneering patriarch of American Lutheranism who brought the religion to Philadelphia in 1742. While serving three churches, he is best known for his service at the Augustus Lutheran Church in Trappe, PA. He served the churches in the Pikeland Township area and was a friend to Dr. Bodo Otto and General George Washington during the Revolutionary War. A history of his service is given as well as selected translations from his journals. |
