This is a photocopy of an article from the Bulletin of the History of Medicine 1942. It discusses the history of spas from Greece to Rome and the recognition of spas in Europe versus spas in America. He describes American spas, similar to the Yellow Springs Spa, dating back to before the Revolutionary War and details the entertainment to be found there. Of peculiar note is the development of the Saratoga Springs in 1935. He sites the lack of attention to spas in America as being beneficial to health and relaxation. He concludes with a list of measures that could help create a renewed interest in spas in America. |
