This Antiques Magazine article discusses Tunbridge ware, an English spa souvenir. These wooden boxes and later furnishings were made to sell to the spa visitors Tunbridge Wells. Popular wooden ware included spice boxes, tea caddies, dressing boxes and writing tables and more. The products were first begun as early as 1680 but actually produced at Tunbridge Wells in 1710 and ended in 1927. These wares were also produced in Brighton. |
