This is an oak bench that is pegged together. It was part of the furnishings used at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts Summer School at Chester Springs. It is believed to have been made on site in the carpentry shop.

This Antiques Magazine article discusses Tunbridge ware, an English spa souvenir. These wooden boxes and later furnishings were made to sell to the spa visitors Tunbridge Wells. Popular wooden ware included spice boxes, tea caddies, dressing boxes and writing tables and more. The products were first begun as early as 1680 but actually produced at Tunbridge Wells in 1710 and ended in 1927. These wares were also produced in Brighton.

Two Christmas cards c. 1950's sent to Roland Maynard's family from Albert Van Nese Greene. Greene has wood cuts done by him on the inside pages of the cards. His signature is on the cards. Greene and the Maynard family were neighbors and friends.
