2006.1.1 - Native American artifacts
The sweetgrass braid and bundle of sage are traditional Lenape Indian items and were presented to Executive Director Rob Lukens at a Native American Blessing Ceremony at Historic Yellow Springs on May 21, 2006. Native American David Bonham presented the gift. Bonham also found a small iron nail in the oak tree in the courtyard and gave it to Lukens stating that it symbolized white man's intrusion in nature.

This is a first person diary written by Rebecca Lane Pennypacker Price to her son describing her work during the Civil War. She was a member of the Union Relief Society in Phoenixville and traveled to Washington, D. C. and south delivering food and supplies and administering to the sick and wounded soldiers. She gives a very detailed description of conditions at that time for both the Union and Confederate soldiers.

This is a photocopy of the article on Graceanna Lewis that appeared in the Daily Local News in 2013. It is written by Rob Lukens, President of the Chester County Histoical Society. Ms. Lewis was a strong abolitonist, a botanical and orithology illustrator of note. She and her sisters raised Eleanor Moore who became the principal of the PA Soldiers' Orphan School in Chester Springs.
